Building A Website: Part 1
Introduction & Overview
The building a website courses are probably the most important and content rich aspects of this school, and because of this it felt necessary to take some time to introduce everything we will be doing. First off, if you haven’t done so I would strongly recommend going through the classes in ‘An Introduction To SiteGround‘ and ‘A Guide To WordPress: Part 1‘. In order to provide the best content possible in the coming classes I will be assuming that the base level of knowledge covered in those classes is already known.
I spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to illustrate how to build a website in the best way possible while simultaneously demonstrating as many different skills as possible. In the end I decided the best way to do this would be to simply create a website from start to finish while discussing everything that I am doing. However, there are many different types of websites that need many different types of things so it couldn’t just be any site, and in all honesty no one website will have all of the aspects that you will need. So because of that I decided that the best option would be to go through the creation of this school since it has many of the elements that you will need to create other sites and hopefully by the end of going through its creation you will have the skills to then tweak the work we have done and personalize it to your particular needs. Additionally in ensure that the most value is gathered from these courses as possible the classes available are not the limit to what I am willing to create. There is a forum available on this site where if there is a particular topic you would like covered you can either request that a class be made for it or can discuss it with other users. These course are meant to be a learning experience to become a designer by viewing the content I have created, however, the end goal is to give you the confidence and skills to create your own content with your personal touch. All of that being said, let’s get started!
Additional Note: I have done my best to both create a video and a written source for each class and to make them as similar as possible. While the core content will always match up I believe the videos provide a better insight and are a stronger source of content than the written section simply because I have done what I could to give the best representation of what the design process is like for me. They are a little more informal and will naturally by being videos will cover the topics in more depth.
